I can scarcely believe it, but a dude with a huge beard who comes from Pittsburgh has made one of the first genuine five-star albums of the year.
William Fitzsimmons, a man who grew up with two blind parents (and thus a household filled with millions of sound-creating objects), shut himself in a locked room with his instruments to create this, an album about divorce and heartbreak.

Goodnight might come off as a gentle, typically mournful example of contemporary Americana, but it's an emotional kick to the head that will come back to haunt you long after the standout final track I Don't Love You Anymore comes to a close.

Fitzsimmons has created something truly, truly special. Goodnight is essential.
