IF you like your music the Nick Cave side of downbeat, The Tenebrous Liar is for you.
Incredibly intense and brooding, this isn't going to set the dance floor alight. Quite the opposite; it will have everyone heading for the bar and a bottle of neat whisky in which to drown their sorrows and contemplate the very nature of existence itself!
But it isn't deep and dark for sheer effect; this is music played with incredible passion and purpose. No irritatingly vibrant pastel pop here, just solidly constructed songs that actually mean something.
Soul searching is the nature of the game, but that in itself can create a certain sort of exhilaration. Strip something down to its bear bones and it can only get better from thereon in!
Steve Gullick's vocals are sultry and sensuous, while Tony Ash's guitar tests and teases the listener. Bass and drums come from Brendan Casey and Tom Glendining respectively for an album that surpasses 2008's critically acclaimed Tenebrous' Liar's Last Stand in so many ways. Cultured and refined, it's an acquired taste, but almost indispensable when you grow accustomed to it!
