Serving soldiers coming to York
The Soldiers
THE Soldiers created history by being the first group of serving soldiers to hit the British pop charts.
They are soldiers first and foremost, having served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. They are real life heroes, have several medals between them and can be called up at any time - and now they are appearing at the Grand Opera House in York.
Sgt Maj Gary Chilton, 43, is an exceptional singer; Staff Sgt Richie Maddocks, 39, a true showman; and Lance Cpl Ryan Idzi, 26, the young heart throb who receives sacks of fan mail every week.
Together, they are first class singing and dancing entertainers who provide a great night out for all the family. They have touched a chord with the nation and represent and reflect the true values of the Armed Forces.
Their first album ‘Coming Home’ was the fifth biggest selling domestic album of 2010, and following its storming success they released their second album ‘Letters Home’ October 2010.
These two top 10 albums, released in the space of a year, exceeded sales of 800,000 and have helped raise over half a million pounds for army charities.
Their classic song ‘Coming Home’ has become their anthem and is dedicated to all the servicemen and women across the world, receiving standing ovations with audiences around the country.
The Soldiers have performed for Her Majesty The Queen at the Royal Variety and at The Festival of Remembrance two years in a row. Their TV appearances include The Paul O’Grady Show, Lorraine, Daybreak, Strictly Come Dancing, all the major News channels and caused a TV first when all TV channels broadcast them at the same time on Remembrance Day.
The Soldiers appear at the Grand Opera House York on Sunday March 24 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £20.50 available from the box office on 0844 871 3024. Visit www.atgtickets.com/york
