Panto is a real beauty!

THE St Paul’s Players amateur dramatics group were wide awake when they went on a recent walk around the streets of Goole to help promote their upcoming play.
The cast dressed up and strode around the town to drum up interest in their performance of Sleeping Beauty, which runs for four days later this month.
The play will re-tell the famous fairytale about Princess Aurora and will be given its own twist by the cast members.
As a way of helping to promote the play, they handed out flyers to passers-by in the town, chatted to shoppers and given their choice of attire, they certainly won’t be forgotten in a hurry (as our picture shows).
The group’s chairman John Ramsdale is hoping the third play in as many years will build on the success of the previous two productions.
He said: “This is the third year we’ve done these pantomimes now. We’ve done Aladdin in 2010 and last year we did Jack and the Beanstalk.
“Ticket sales are going well at the moment so hopefully we’ll see a good turnout for all the shows.
“In total we’ve got five shows over the four days so we hope as many people as possible will turn up.”
The publicity walk saw the cast march around Goole in their panto gear and John added that the group attracted a good crowd on the day, leading to hopes that the show will be the best attended yet.
The shows will take place at the group’s home, at the Briarcroft Hotel, Clifton Gardens in Goole.
The first show is on Wednesday, November 28, with all shows starting at 7.30pm. The shows then take place on Thursday and Friday night (7.30pm) with a special matinee planned for the final day, Saturday December 1, at 2pm.
This will then be followed by the fifth and final show on Saturday evening at 7.30pm.
John added that the group were hoping to make the pantomime an annual event and that they are hoping that it will grow each year, with the help of the public’s support.
Tickets for the panto are priced at £7 adults and £5 for concessions. These are available to buy from any group member, or you can ring the reception at The Briarcroft Hotel on 01405 763024.
