Hot and spicy night winner!

A LUCKY reader from Cawood is going to have his Saturday night spiced up after winning our competition for tickets to a comedy and curry evening.

Joel West, of Wolsey Avenue, correctly told us that comedian Peter Kay is from Bolton to claim a pair of tickets for the Sherburn Comedy and Curry Night.

The hottest event in town is taking place this Saturday (October 6) at the Eversley Park Centre in Sherburn.

Organisers Stuart and Debra Haskell said nearly all of the 200 tickets for the event had sold out, with only a few remaining as the Selby Times went to press.

Stuart said: “All proceeds are in aid of Sherburn Hungate CP School, Athelstan School and the Peter Pan Nursery and we are hoping to raise about £500 for each school.”

The curries for the evening are being supplied by the Saffron restaurant in Sherburn and will be served from 6.30pm until 8pm.

Doors to the Eversley Park Centre, on Low Street, will open at 6.30pm, with the first comedy act due on stage at 8pm. In between each act there will be a 15-minute interval so people can take advantage of the bar that is being laid on. The final act should finish at about 11pm.

Comedians David Hadingham and Benny Boot, as well as compere Silky, are scheduled to appear.

Stuart added: “Myself and Debra would like to thank all the volunteers for their help on the night, along with Wincanton in Sherburn and Saffron for sponsoring the evening.”

Last minute booking enquiries for tickets should be made to 01977 681679. Tickets, priced £20, include both the comedy and the curry.
