WHILST I was aware the 150th anniversary of the Selby Times fell in 2010, I wasn't aware the actual date was so early in the year until I read the story in your recent edition.
Of course, back copies of newspapers are vital sources of evidence for historians. I've greatly enjoyed using back copies from the microfilm archive in Selby Library's archive to help in my work since 2008, and look forward to continuing to use the valuable resource the Selby Times is in the future.

As well as my congratulations in reaching the milestone, I also wanted to offer my praise of the marvellous material Richard Moody produces.

In these trying days for local newspaper titles, it's great to see a paper reach such an anniversary; even better you intend to mark it in style, and even better still, for social historians of the future, you continue to record day-to-day life of a market town and its community.
