LEEDS United star defender Ben Parker was cheered by more than 50 supporters when he cut the ribbon and officially declared South Milford Pharmacy open on Tuesday.
The Mighty Whites' left back was given a guided tour of the new facility – the first pharmacy in the village – next to the doctor's surgery in High Street.
Everything in the pharmacy has been fitted out to the highest specification.
As well as dispensing prescriptions, the pharmacy will offer a delivery and collection service, over-the-counter medicines and a number of additional services to benefit health.
These will include such things as smoking cessation advice, weight management, emergency contraception and health checks. A pharmacist will always be on hand to answer questions people may have.
The pharmacy can be used by anyone irrespective of where they're registered as a patient, and will be able to help with all prescription and general health queries.
Practice manager Stephanie Drury added: "We've been operational for about a week, but this was the official opening. In our first week, we've done 500 prescriptions, which augers well for the pharmacy's future."
Superintendent pharmacist for the centre Peter Tate said: "It's very important we can offer a wide range of services to the community, as well as dispensing their medication."
If you want to find out more or would just like to see the new facility, please go and visit Peter and his team. The pharmacy will be open five days a week, Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 6pm and until 7.30pm every Monday evening.
