"FABULOUS" fun for all was had at this year's Riccall Carnival.
With a transport theme – trains, boats, planes and automobiles – the village was literally on the move.
Barlby Foot-Tappers and South Milford Brass raised the roof to launch the three-day event on Friday night with a Last Night of the Proms concert at the Regen Centre.
Saturday afternoon entertainment included a collection of vintage vehicles, with the main stars being two classic buses used in TV show Heartbeat, one of which took passengers on a tour of the village.
Another took visitors to the Old Station House in Station Road, where actor/storyteller Chris Cade entertained with memories of Riccall Station.
Other attractions included a wide selection of stalls run by village organisations, including a tombola, wood turning, games, rides, a barbecue, pig racing, all-day football tournament and music from WYSIWYG.
Sunday was a relaxing day. An outdoor church service on the Millennium Green was followed by family picnics on the village green, with entertainment from Billy Bills, the Crazy Fun Bus and Uncle Noel.
Tremendous displays of transport memorabilia and photographs were exhibited all weekend in St Mary's and the Methodist Church respectively, while the scarecrow competition attracted a record number of entries.
Both The Greyhound and Hare and Hounds pubs got into the carnival spirit with children's fairground rides, a bouncy castle and bucking bronco.
Carnival committee secretary Sandra Silvers said: "The order of the day was fun, fun, fun ... and fun was had by all!
"The weekend was a fantastic success. Even the weather joined in the celebrations this year and was fabulous!
"The carnival was set up to bring the community together for a weekend of fun and varied activities and, as such, is achieving its aim.
"The committee thanks everyone, without whose help, input, sponsorship and attendance Riccall Carnival wouldn't have been such a huge success.
Money raised will fund the individual organisations and next year's carnival, planned for June 25 to 27."
Another diary date is Riccall's Dickensian Christmas Fair on December 5 between 4 and 7pm on the village green.
