CROOKS fled empty-handed after being disturbed while inside a house in Dower Park, Escrick, at 2.40am on Tuesday. Police said the homeowner was asleep downstairs when he heard the raiders searching through kitchen drawers.
NORTHERN Rail is operating an amended timetable for services operating between Selby and Wakefield, via Bradford. Damage to infrastructure at Ravensthorpe means journey times will be extended by about 20 minutes. The normal timetable is expected to r
esume on Monday.

DAMAGE was caused to the window of a house in Kent Road, Selby, between 9pm on Sunday and early on Monday. It will cost £100 to repair.

LEAD worth £400 was taken from the window of a property in Doncaster Road, Brayton, during the weekend.

THE WINDOW of a Ford Transit parked in Denison Road, Selby, was smashed by vandals early on Monday.

VANDALS smashed the window of a Mercedes Sprinter van parked in Bawtry Road, Selby, early on Friday.

A MAN will appear before magistrates next week charged with offences after an alleged incident in Buller Street, Selby, at 10.30pm on Friday. The suspect was charged with a section four public order offence as well as criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon. The man is due in court on Tuesday.

BENCHES were damaged in Hirst Courtney overnight last Thursday and Friday.

THIEVES stole a disabled woman's wallet after she dropped it as she got out of a vehicle in Brook Street, Selby, at 3.30pm on Saturday.

A WOMAN received a bloody nose after being assaulted by another female at the iT Bar in Ousegate, Selby, at 2.30am on Sunday.

WINDOWS were smashed by yobs at St Mary's Primary School in Baffam Lane, Selby, during the weekend.

OLDGATE Lane in Barkston Ash is closed between Monday and Friday for pipe installation. An alternative route will be signed.

HIGH Eggborough level crossing is shut between 7.30pm on Saturday and 12.30pm on Sunday for maintenance work.

TWO men have appeared in court charged with stealing metal from sites in Selby district.
Richard Parton, 21, and David Kerry, 22, are accused of taking steel piping from land in Cridling Stubbs on February 20, and galvanised gates worth £300 from a site in Whitley four days later. The pair are also charged with stealing a metal walkway from an address in Hensall on February 26.
Mr Parton and Mr Kerry, both of Knottingley, entered no plea to the allegations during a brief hearing before Selby magistrates, sitting in York, last Thursday. The case was adjourned for committal to York Crown Court. Both defendants were released on conditional bail.

SELBY'S former toll bridge will be closed on Sunday at the junction of New Street and Ouzegate for repairs. It will be closed from 7am to about 5pm.
