POLICE have warned car owners to be extra vigilant after a spate of break-ins across Selby town centre.
The latest areas to be targeted were Armoury Road and Haig Street, where three vehicles were attacked early on Saturday. In one incident, a power drill worth £500 was taken from a Peugeot 206.

A WOMAN was arrested by police during a disturbance in
Finkle Street, Selby, just after midnight on Saturday. She received a fixed penalty.

KEGS of lager worth £1,000 were taken from the driveway of a property in Low Street, South Milford, overnight Friday/Saturday.

BURGLARS entered an address in Eversley Court, Sherburn, between 1 and 6.30pm on Saturday.

HORSE owners have been warned to be on guard amid rising thefts of tack and other equestrian equipment from district stables. Outbuildings in villages including Chapel Haddlesey have been targeted in recent weeks.

A MAN has been arrested after an incident involving a weapon in Coupland Road, Selby, at 5.30pm on Saturday. He was released on bail pending further inquiries.

A FORD Ka – believed to be stolen from the York area – was abandoned and set alight in Rawfield Lane, Fairburn, at 9pm on Sunday. Selby fire-fighters tackled the flames.

DOZENS of fire-fighters were scrambled to rescue a young man who fell off his motorcycle at Jawbone Quarry near Brotherton. Officers from Selby and West Yorkshire were called at 11.45pm on Sunday and used specialist heavy lifting gear to winch the stricken rider to safety. He was taken to Pontefract General Infirmary with a broken leg.
