UFO 'seen' over Selby district village

SELBY is fast becoming a UFO hotspot after more mysterious flying objects were reported over a district village.

Filey-based UFO expert Russ Kellett said a number of Selby residents had recently contacted him about lights over Barlby, with one couple claiming their car had been narrowly missed by an unidentified flying object.

Russ, who has been investigating UFOs for 22 years and is the head of investigations for the Flying Saucer Bureau for the North of England, added: "People have been reporting a lot of strange activity, in

particular in the early hours of New Year's Day.

"A young couple, who asked not to be identified, were driving out of Selby on the A19 near Barlby between 12.30 and 12.45am when something came out of the sky very low past their car, scaring both of them to death.

"They said they thought it landed in fields nearby.

"Another person driving out of Selby towards York around the same time saw something in the sky near the Greencore roundabout."

UFO investigator Russ (left) helped publicise a photo of a strange flying craft, taken over Brayton Barff in 2006 by Selby resident Jody Holden, dubbed the 'Selby Saucer'. He said: "These reports weren't the typical orange glowing balls or chinese lanterns. It was more of a very bright diffused light, which you could still look at."
