I welcome fox hunting stance
WELL done Rachel Stanhope (right) for having the courage to stand up to the pompous morons who think they're above the law and who are quite prepared literally to ride roughshod over everyone and anything in pursuit of their so-called 'sport' – Sanctuary fox hunt 'disgrace' (Selby Times, December 10).
Don't let anyone be fooled by their pretence this incident was a pure accident. It's a well-known fact these hunts still look for every opportunity to seek out their defenceless prey, using the pretext they're hunting with a trail.
If the latter was the case, why the need to hunt in such close proximity to this well-known nature reserve, where all those involved are devoted to the preservation of wildlife?
Am I being cynical, or could it be the odds of finding a fox in this locality are significantly greater than elsewhere?
As someone who also supports wildlife in the region, in all its forms, I totally endorse the comment made by another local resident we're very fortunate to have such a wonderful reserve on our doorstep, and should be doing everything possible to support and protect it for the benefit of future generations.
