MACMILLAN Cancer Support is urging the people of Selby to give a gift of a donation this Christmas to raise vital funds for people affected by the disease.

Local fund-raisers said £25 could buy a prize-winning turkey, but it would also fund a Macmillan nurse for one hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

And £132 could buy you a new mountain bike, but it would also pay for a Macmillan cancer information and support specialist for a day. This would mean more people affected by cancer would have someone to answer their questions and talk to about their concerns.

Macmillan fund-raising manager for Selby Robyn Mountain Wade said: “We would be really grateful if people would consider donating to Macmillan this festive season. Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face, especially at Christmas. By donating to Macmillan, you will help fund the medical, practical, emotional, and financial services Macmillan provides to people affected by cancer, and you help Macmillan campaign for better cancer care.” To donate to call 0300 1000 200, or go to the Macmillan http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Donate/Donate.aspx website.
