Give blood and save lives today

Blood donors in Mexborough have an extra day this month to help save patient’s lives at a new venue.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) are urging donors to give blood in February and make the most of an additional day, only seen once every four years.

Holly Mason, spokesperson for NHSBT, said: “It only takes one donation to help save and treat up to three lives so giving blood this leap year can make a huge difference to patients in need.”

Sessions are held today, Thursday, February 16, at Pastures Lodge, from 1- 3.30pm and 4.30- 7.15pm. Call the Donor Line on 0300 123 23 23 to make an appointment.

Anyone wanting to donate for the first time should be aged between 17-65, weighing at least seven stone 12lbs and in good health. If you’ve donated before, you can start again up to your 70th birthday and there is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years.
